The water is great, for a Texas beach, all year round and is such a great place to bond with family and friends!

This picture is taken during October in Rockport, TX. It is a fairly small city, that still has the “small town” and “family” feel to it. Rockport’s beach is wonderful for small children and not so certain swimmers as it is super shallow. It costs $10 per day or $40 for a year pass for nonresidents.

There are several plays-capes for the kiddos to use if they need a break from building sandcastles.

This is a more up close picture of the play equipment that my kids enjoyed on a day trip that we took.
Texas Maritime Museum
The Texas Maritime Museum is great for all ages. It is also free to everyone, which is such a great perk! Donations are always accepted!

This is just one shot of the interior of the museum.

It is a wonderful place for children, as there isn’t too much that they can mess up. My kids had a blast!

There are stairs to the top of the lighthouse and outdoor areas to walk around as well. Sorry for all of the funny faces that my son puts on, but he is quite the character!

Fishing

Rockport also houses many opportunities to fish. They have a lot of public piers and public access points for boats too. If you are interested in guide fishing, there are various services in the area as well.

The kids and hubby definitely had a blast fishing and were happy with the catch! We were actually on Goose Island State Park Fishing Pier. Goose Island is not far from Rockport, but we thought that it would be the safest pier for our 3 and 7-year-olds. Click here for more information on Goose Island near Rockport, TX!
Exploration
Goose Island

Caleb and Aleah enjoyed The Big Tree at Goose Island. The tree was a magnificent site!
Aransas National Wildlife Refuge
During our fall break in October, we took a trip to Rockport. Since we have always wanted to visit, but didn’t want the heat of the summer, we decided to embark on this half day trip with the family. We paid just $5 to ride through the park! You could honestly spend a good half to a whole day at this breathtaking refuge.

My family enjoyed the peaceful drive to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, because it actually is much farther out of Rockport than I had expected. It is still very doable if you happen to be in the area.

The Refuge has a few observation trails and towers to enjoy. This particular tower was the highest walk up, but was absolutely stunning once up to the top. The pictures do it no justice, especially when we visited in October this past year.

Make sure to bring your walking shoes and PLENTY of bug spray, because the mosquitoes will search for you. Other than that, this place was serene and gorgeous.
We were just a bit too early for the arrival of the whooping cranes, but it is the winter home for the last wild flock.
